About the project: The National Convention on EU represents an innovative model of network trough which NGOs from different fields cooperate. In this way, civil society engages and contributes significantly to the accession negotiations between Serbia and the EU in all 35 chapters and conducts comprehensive monitoring. The objective of the project is to achieve efficient and quality negotiations between Serbia and the European Union and to achieve sustainable reform in the areas covered by Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights and Chapter 24 – Justice, Freedom and Security through Inclusion and Civil Society Monitoring. This goal will be achieved through a series of meetings of the NCEU Working Groups for the aforementioned Chapters, with representatives of the negotiating team as well as working groups engaged in drafting the legislation within these areas.

The partners, as working group coordinators for Chapters 23 and 24, prepared five publications with concrete proposals to improve legal or strategic solutions. The Lawyer`s Committee on Human Rights – YUCOM, coordinates the work of the Working Group on Chapter 23. During the year 2015, five meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the Negotiating Group for Chapter 23. The topics of the meetings concerned the drafting of the Action Plan for Chapter 23.

During year 2016, three publications with recommendations from relevant areas within Chapter 23 were presented, which were made in cooperation with all the representatives of the Working Group for Chapter 23.
