Project title: Monitoring of the recommendations of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) – protecting women and children from discrimination

About the project: Close attention in its work YUCOM has dedicated to monitoring and improving the status of vulnerable groups in the Republic of Serbia, principally the status of children and young people, as well as the position of women regarding gender-based violence and discrimination. Therefore, the general objective of the project is to monitor implementation of the recommendations of the UPR, particularly those in regard to protecting women and children from discrimination. This will include encouraging positive activities of the wider community, as well as developing and raising public awareness about the importance of tolerance and prohibition of discrimination. According to the plan, expected results of project activities will be:
- Raised public awareness of the need to monitor and advocate for human rights in Serbia;
- A short movie recorded (showing categorization of vulnerable social groups, as well as the consequences of discrimination against the most vulnerable ones, with emphasis on children and women;
- Raised awareness of training participants of the need to provide protection to children, young people and women against discrimination (within the activity to perform five trainings of representatives of public authorities);
- Report on the implementation of the recommendations of the UPR (As YUCOM will monitor the implementation of recommendations related to subject, in the last 6 months prior to the preparation of the national report, the results will be published);
- Report on the implementation of the recommendations of the UPR presenting feedback information obtained by the performed trainings;
- Organized final conference where all the results of the project activities will be presented;
- Raised public awareness of the problems of socially vulnerable groups, as well as the consequences of discrimination against these groups, especially women and children.
