Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights YUCOM, with the support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Embassy of Finland, kindly invites you to the conference “Human Rights in 2015 – YUCOM’s Views on Serbia’s Response” which will be held on Friday, 11 of March 2016, starting at 11 am, at the Media Center Belgrade, Terazije 3, M60 hall on the second floor.
YUCOM’s engagement on improvement and protection of human rights in Serbia within it’s 18th year of work, will be presented by the diplomats, representatives of international organizations, government and independent bodies, non-governmental organizations and the media.
The seriousness of the threats towards the exercising of citizens’ rights in Serbia will be presented through the perspective of the filed requests for free legal aid and advices in 2015. The work of state bodies and the judiciary will be analyzed through selected cases where YUCOM’s legal team represented the victims of human rights violations.
The willingness of the country to respect human rights will be assessed through the perception of the given answers to the challenges of the refugee crisis. Additionally this will be measured through the proclaimed priorities during the OSCE Chairmenship of Serbia and the evaluation of the activities towards specific law adoption. “YUCOM 2015 – Annual Work Report”, which will be presented at the conference, brings wider elaboration of the answers to the aforementioned challenges, and show every other activity of this organization in the past year.
